The Flashman group launches MermaidAg!
MermaidAg builds upon the Flashman lab's research to develop novel biostimulant technology that will help farmers protect their crops from flooding. Supported by a BBSRC Follow-On Fund, 'FloodAlert', Mikel and Rebecca are working on this project to translate our findings into real-life impact. Salma Akter awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship
Congratulations to Salma! The scheme is awarded to 'outstanding early-career research scientists' and gives the opportunity build an independent research group and further her research into novel targets for engineering enhanced environmental stress resilience in plants. Read more about it here!
1st Poster Prize at the Innovations in Crop Science conference
Congratulations to Anna who was awarded the 1st Poster Prize at the Innovations of Crop Science conference held in London! The conference showcased 'approaches taken in both industry and academia to support the identification of potentially new and novel crop protection solutions', and Anna was awarded 1st prize for her poster titled 'Protein engineering as a strategy to improve the flood tolerance of crops'.
Rebecca Latter presented the Jamie Ferguson Award
Huge congratulations to Rebecca who was one the recipients of the 2024 Jamie Ferguson Innovation Awards. The award 'celebrates innovative and impactful ideas emerging from students'. Rebecca was awarded for her DPhil research investigating agrochemical approaches to promoting flood resilience. Read more about it here!
